    Python/SAS Developer

    Washington, DC metro area


    For a large financial services client, we are seeking a Python/SAS Developer, to work on a 1 year or longer project plugging existing applications into their Single-Family forecasting framework.  Python is the controller between the GUI and the SAS application, so the ideal candidate will have strong Python as well as SAS. 


    • Enhance and maintain a complex Python framework which automates a complex SAS-based application workflow

    • Write wrapper scripts in Python, and do light SAS work, since the applications are all written in SAS.

    • Determine system requirements and functionalities needed in large/complex development project.

    • Able to be cross-functional in a high-paced and fluid Agile team. Other tasks may involve automation testing, DB development and documentation.

    • Collaborate with other team members, business units, and user groups to identify impacts of changes, estimate level of efforts, and provide inputs to project schedules.


    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.

    • 5+ years working with object-oriented Python concepts in Python.

    • 1-2+ years of SAS development in a LINUX/SAS Grid environment.

    • Knowledge of XML based technologies, XML messaging, XML Schema, XML parsing.

    • Experience in building frameworks and automating complex workflows using Python.

    • UNIX/LINUX shell scripting experience.

    • Oracle experience with SQL, PL/SQL.

    • Experience with Hadoop and Netezza a plus.

    • Agile scrum/Kanban experience, having worked on cross-functional teams.
