  • Overview

    For a large financial services client, we are seeking REMIC Modeler to work on a 9 to 12 months or longer contract.  The person will work as part of a team and analyze complex and negotiated structured securities.


    • Analyze complex, negotiated structured securities; assess the impact of these securities on existing processes and systems.

    • Working as part of a team, compute principal and interest payments on structured securities through use of a proprietary CMO payment model.

    • Collaborate with main client (Structured Transactions) to stay informed of upcoming structured deals and market trends. Anticipate system needs or procedural changes due to latest market trends.

    • Perform first-level review of REMIC and SMBS deal files, prospectus supplements, and other trust-related documents to ensure operational soundness and payment accuracy.

    • Transmit security payment instructions and send payment wires to our paying agents (Fed, DTC, and US Bank). 

    • Provide assistance on system implementations: write scope statements and requirements for specific system enhancements; perform user acceptance testing.

    • Perform day-to-day production activities through shared production functions; team members rotate functions every 2 months.

    • Work closely with third-party validation team to reconcile all security payments. 

    • Work directly with investors and data vendors to answer security-related inquiries.

    • Construct SQL queries and ad hoc reports as needed. 



    • B.S or B.A in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field required.

    • A working knowledge of Fannie Mae’s MBS and/or Structured Transactions programs is highly desirable. (Similar work experience with private or agency MBS, CMO, or asset-backed group can be considered equivalent).

    • Minimum of two to four years of professional responsibilities in finance, accounting, mortgage securities trading, or related fields is required. Excellent leadership, communication, analytic, and problem-solving skills required. Must have the ability to implement controls around an often-changing production environment.

    • Project Management skills desired; knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), or Agile project development cycle preferred.

    • Knowledge of computer applications is required with the ability to use a wide variety of databases, analytics, and project management applications. Direct work experience in UNIX, Sybase, Java, SQL, Quality Center, Excel, and Access is preferred.

    • Knowledge of Intex or other structured finance applications desired.
