    Financial/Business Analyst, Fixed Income, 1+ year contract

    Washington, DC metro area



    For a large, mortgage-focused financial services client we are seeking a Financial/Business Analyst with strong Fixed Income experience, for a 1+ year contract.  The Analyst will assist in the analysis and gathering of requirements for the development of fixed income interest rate and credit risk management systems.


    • Excel and VBA experience - The project requires ability to understand VBA code in Excel. The project will replace an End User Computing app that will be redesigned and developed as a production application.
    • Business Knowledge – Mortgage Bond Market, Risk, and Asset-Liability-Management (ALM) experience - The business domain is important so that the person can understand the business context without needing specific handholding in the areas mentioned. This is a reasonably short term engagement and the candidate will work predominantly with business resources to analyze and document the requirements.
    • Requirements Specifications - The objective of the project is create a business requirements specification that captures the business requirements. At the same time, the requirements need to clearly communicate the intent to the technical development team for technical development of the solution.
    • Analyze and gather requirements for the development of fixed income interest rate and credit risk management systems.
    • Analyze user-built tools.
    • Derive requirements for the Financial Engineering team.


    • Bachelor’s degree in finance, risk or related field.
    • 3-5+ years of experience working in the MBS domain, including P&L reporting and market risk management, as a financial and/or business analyst.
    • 3-5+ years of fixed income trading, middle office, finance, and risk management experience.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Prefer experience in the front or middle office of a GSE.
    • Prefer experience in formal user/system testing of financial applications.
