For a large financial services client, we are seeking a Quality Assurance Tester, to work on a 1 year or longer project to automate SAS applications relating to the calculation of earnings at risk.  The tester will work on manual tests, as well as potentially some automation, and will perform model testing.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct application automation and testing of systems.
  • Contribute to the writing of actionable, testable product requirements in the form of user stories.
  • Develop and maintain test tools and frameworks to validate unit, integration and functional tests.
  • Evaluate business requirement and technical specification documents in order to craft test strategies and LOE assessments which would account for, durations, constraints, assumptions, etc. that are needed in order to fulfill test objectives
  • Review and validate design specifications so as to ensure requirements traceability and to determine application/component functional readiness requirements
  • Create and maintain test plans that define test objectives, methods and tools to be employed for the assigned project
  • Create or contribute to the definition of detailed project schedules, conveying clearly defined milestones for test preparation, execution, and compliance reporting activities and deliverables
  • Execute assigned tasks in harmony with the test schedule
  • Lead and/or participate in the creation, distribution, and walkthrough of software test cases, scripts and other documents surrounding testing activities and ensure that all testing activities and deliverables are conducted/produced in compliance with company standards, to include:
    • Organize, coordinate and participate in test plan/case reviews
    • Design and prepare test data
    • Report progress against assigned tasks
    • Raise, record and retest defects
    • Influence the use of automation tools to manage problems, develop test cases, execute regression and load testing, and facilitate the creation of supporting documents

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • 8+ years of model/batch data process testing experience, testing applications that involve financial data, statements or financial models.
  • Unix and Shell Scripting experience
  • RDBMS experience with Oracle/SQL (e.g., Oracle, MS SQL and MySQL).
  • Experience with Agile and Waterfall software development models.
  • Selenium-Java Testing experience
  • Preferred: SAS, financial services industry experience
