SAS Developer

For a large financial services client, we are seeking a SAS Developer, to work on a 1 year or longer project to re-platform a major system.  Prefer candidates who consider themselves programmer-quants, who can develop code for use in production, and with Python or R.


  • Work as a programmer/quant on automated valuation models, home price valuation models, retrospective property models, to be used in production.
  • Code and review coding done for SAS models, application upgrades, extensions, or other development.
  • Participate in or review all the steps in the software development life cycle (SDLC) for financial modeling application components and systems, creating and modifying the software, following Agile methodologies.
  • Assist with the development team’s efforts to determine user needs and business processes that are automated by the application, a large/complex development project.
  • Collaborate with other team members, business units, and user groups to identify impacts of changes or enhancements, estimate level of efforts, and provide inputs to project schedules.


  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related quant field.
  • 5+ years in SAS programming or modeling, coding within SAS, SAS macro language, deciphering existing SAS code, doing requirements analysis, design, development, and testing in a UNIX/LINUX SASGRID environment; UNIX shell scripting.
  • Experience with mortgage models, including automated valuation models, home price valuation models, retrospective property models.
  • Experience with SDLC, requirements, design, and implementation.
  • Python Command Line strongly preferred.
  • Nice to have R, developer experience with financial statements/modelling, experience in financial services, preferably mortgage-related.
